What we teach and believe

Statement of Faith - Rio Canario Church of Christ.

We, the members of the Rio Canario Church of Christ, hold these fundamental beliefs as the foundation of our faith:

1. Inspiration of the Bible: We firmly believe in the divine inspiration of the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments. It is the authoritative and infallible Word of God, providing guidance for every aspect of our lives.

2. Jesus Christ, the Son of God: We confess Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the Savior of the world. He came to earth, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins, and was resurrected, offering eternal life to all who believe in Him.

3. The One True Church: We acknowledge that there is one true church, the body of Christ, which He established during the first century. It is not defined by denominational boundaries but consists of all believers who have obeyed Christ's plan of salvation. 

4. Universal Sinfulness: We understand that all humanity has fallen short of God's perfect standard and are in need of redemption. Sin separates us from God, and our only hope for reconciliation is through Jesus Christ.

5. The New Covenant: We believe that God established a New Covenant through His Son, Jesus Christ. This covenant serves as a guiding light for our lives, offering forgiveness, grace, and a new way of living in accordance with God's will.

6. Salvation by Faith and Obedience: We affirm that salvation is a gift from God, bestowed upon us through faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. This faith, however, is not a mere intellectual acknowledgment but requires heartfelt obedience to God's commands.

7. The Gospel Plan of Salvation: We recognize the importance of responding to the gospel message in a biblical manner. This response includes belief in Jesus as Lord and Savior, genuine repentance for our sins, public confession of faith in Christ, and immersion in water baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

8. Baptism for Salvation: We hold that baptism is a critical step in the process of salvation, as demonstrated in the New Testament. Through baptism, we identify with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and we are cleansed of our sins by his shed blood, becoming a part of His body, the church.

With unwavering conviction, we declare these foundational beliefs, shaping our faith, our actions, and our fellowship as the Rio Canario Church of Christ. We strive to live in accordance with these truths, proclaiming the gospel and glorifying God through our lives and service to others.
